Validating the Competency Profile with the job incumbents
Conducting the Job Holder’s Focus Group. A focus group with a representative sample of job incumbents for each role profile to be built is conducted. This focus group is designed to test the importance of each competency to the role, confirm the target levels of behaviour for each competency scale, and review/add to the identified technical skills and knowledge. Their use broadens the base of employee participation in the process and results in a stronger understanding of and “buy-in” to the process and its outcomes. A focus group can review a profile in approximately half a day.
