Phase V - Finalizing the Competency Profiles

Conducting the second expert/manager panel. The profile has to be reviewed by the managers (same as for the first session) for refinement and approval. The group synthesizes the information collected in the focus groups. Once this step is completed, the output is a job competency profile that can be used to support processes such as staffing, selection, training and development, career planning and performance management.
Quality Assurance Review. The completed profiles from the managers are reviewed by senior management and HR representatives to ensure that the expectations established for various roles are compatible and consistent with the classification of the role.
In summary, the process for developing valid and robust job competency profiles consists of a two-phased data collection, and a final meeting for confirming and integrating the Job Holder’s focus group data into a coherent profile. Each session has its own process.
An experienced consultant should be used to facilitate the second expert/manager panel. Two hours is the estimated time per profile. The QA Review should be conducted by or Management and Human Resources.
