The successful integration of competency profiles in the organization is facilitated by the use of application tools. Depending on how competency profiles are to be used, the organization needs to have ways and means to integrate these into its business processes. The question to be asked is, how is the organization going to use competency profiles for staffing, recruiting, learning and development, career planning or performance management. Each HR application may require its own set of application tools. For recruiting, it may be interview questions, for learning and development; it could be a self-assessment questionnaire, a resource guide, a learning plan, etc.
